If you start a real band can you instantly play awesome songs? No.
If you play these sorts of games? Yes (albeit on Easy if you're a beginner).

If you have a real band can you all be smashed off your face and still play? Likely no, unless you're Pete Doherty.
If you have one of these games can you? Yes.

If you have a real band can you play whole songs solo? No, unless you're Pete Doherty.
If you have this can you? Yes.

In my opinion, playing in a real band is much more fun than a simulation. But obviously if you suck then "Rock Band" would be your best option.

Using MNDF's style of argument:
If you can play a real instrument well do girls think you're cool? Yes.
If you can play guitar hero/rock band well, do girls think you're cool? Mostly no.
